A Settlement has been reached with DePauw University in a class action lawsuit concerning the targeted cyberattack on DePauw University’s computer systems that occurred on or about October 31, 2023 (the “Data Incident”), in which certain files that contained private information were allegedly accessed by an unauthorized individual. The information included names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, employer and employee identification numbers, and financial account information.
The lawsuit is captioned Richard Cortrecht and Reta Ferrand-Cortrecht, individually, and on behalf of all others similarly situated v. DePauw University, Case No. 67C01-2401-CT-000003, currently pending in the Putnam Circuit Court (Indiana) (the “Action”).
DePauw University denies each and all of the claims and contentions alleged against it in the Action and denies all charges of wrongdoing or liability alleged (or which could be alleged) in the Action, but has agreed to a settlement to avoid the costs and risks associated with continuing the litigation.
You are included in the Settlement Class if you received a Notice Letter from DePauw University notifying you that your private information was compromised in the Data Incident.
